Within the last six months, there have been eight car burglaries at the Hound Mound Dog Park on South Garden Ridge Boulevard in south Flower Mound.

The town recently installed security cameras at the dog park that can be accessed by the Flower Mound Police Department.

Signs have been placed around the park, signaling the area is now under surveillance.

Even with increased police presence and surveillance cameras, Flower Mound Police stressed the importance of everyone remembering to take valuables (purses, laptops, etc.) with them into the park or leave the items at home. In addition, visitors should lock their car doors.

The vast majority of car burglaries occur when valuables are left in plain sight, officials said, adding, “having cameras in the area does not guarantee the ability to identify and locate criminals.”
