The Flower Mound Fire Department recently welcomed two new second-generation firefighters to the department.

Bryan Ward and Braden Funderburg began shift work at the Flower Mound Fire Department on Monday, following in the father’s footsteps for their occupation. Funderburg is the son of FMFD’s Battalion Chief Scott Funderburg.

Ward’s father, Greg Ward, is an engineer with the nearby Lake Cities Fire Department, which serves the cities of Corinth, Hickory Creek, Lake Dallas, and Shady Shores. On his first shift, Bryan Ward was part of a FMFD mutual aid response to a structure fire in Little Elm and worked alongside his father, according to FMFD.
