A new spa is planning a soft opening this month in The Shops at Highland Village.

Yvonne Stewart has worked for more than 20 years in the retail beauty industry, which included a lot of travel, so much so that 14 years ago she moved to Flower Mound to be closer to the airport.

A couple years ago, she found a new opportunity to be her own boss, work in a similar industry and have a much shorter commute when she began pursuing opening a Woodhouse Spa location.

“Woodhouse is a beautiful day spa,” Stewart said. “My goal is to make it a destination to relax, unwind and let it go. I want my Flower Mound and Highland Village neighbors to be able to enjoy something in their own backyard.”

Stewart said once she decided open a Woodhouse Day Spa, she knew she wanted it to be in Highland Village.

“It’s the perfect place to take care of ourselves after working ourselves to death,” she said.

The nearest Woodhouse locations are in Plano and Fort Worth. The Victoria-based franchise has about 60 locations nationwide.

The Woodhouse Day Spa — Highland Village will have 15 service rooms and will offer many different spa services, including massage therapy, facial treatments, body treatments, hand treatments, foot treatments, sleep treatments and more.

Woodhouse differs from other spas, Stewart said, because of its emphasis on natural ingredients and methods that are “good for you and good for the environment.”

The Woodhouse Day Spa — Highland Village will be located in the former Coldwater Creek space along FM 407 in The Shops at Highland Village. Stewart said Tuesday she is eyeing a soft opening at the end of July or beginning of August, with a grand opening likely at the end of August or early September. The grand opening event will include tours, a raffle, food, entertainment and more.

Stewart said she expects to need a full staff of about 20 people — including hospitality employees, massage therapists, skin therapists and nail technicians — and she is hiring.
