If you live in Flower Mound and want to learn the inner workings of the town’s police department, now’s your chance.
The Flower Mound Police Department is now accepting applications for its free 11-week Citizens Police Academy.
The popular course will give participants will get hands-on experience in law enforcement practices such as recruitment, training, narcotics, firearms, K-9, and crime scene analysis, according to the town. Students will also gain a better understanding of the different divisions within the department including traffic, SWAT, patrol, and criminal investigation.
The course runs from Sept. 14 through Nov. 16 and meets Thursdays from 7-9:30 p.m. and one Saturday from 9-11:30 a.m.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and live in Flower Mound. They will have to meet certain criteria, complete necessary release forms and be willing to undergo a criminal history and background check.
