Flower Mound police collecting school supplies for advocacy center

The Flower Mound Police Department is again collecting school supplies for child abuse victims in Denton County.

FMPD is participating in the Children’s Advocacy Center for Denton County’s Back to School program, which provides school supplies for the children receiving therapy services at CACDC, as well as their school-aged siblings, according to a Flower Mound news release.

“These families rely heavily on the support and generosity of the community to help provide necessary school supplied for their children before it’s time to head back into the classroom,” the news release said.

Needed supplies include:

  • Backpacks
  • Pencils (wood, mechanical)
  • Pens (black, blue, red
  • Binders
  • Paper (construction, wide ruled, college ruled)
  • Crayons, markers, highlighters
  • Glue (sticks, and regular)
  • Facial tissues
  • Pencil bags/boxes
  • Rulers
  • Post-it notes
  • Scissors
  • Notebooks (composition, wide ruled, college ruled)

Gift cards to Staples, Target, and Walmart are also accepted.

To help the cause, drop off donations at the FMPD headquarters, 4150 Kirkpatrick Lane, before Aug. 3. FMPD staff will deliver the supplies to CACDC on Aug. 4.
