Foodie Friday: Happy National Lasagna Day!

In case you aren’t aware, today is National Lasagna Day! So, to all you Italian-food-loving Foodies out there – Happy National Lasagna Day!

And what better way to celebrate than by talking about an Argyle restaurant that serves delicious (and huge) portions of lasagna? This week we took a little bit of a longer drive out to Giovanni’s Pizza & Pasta in Argyle at the intersection of 377 and Country Club to try out their food – and most importantly, their lasagna!

When we first met owner, Al Berisha, we were so impressed by his welcoming countenance and attitude. And I have to tell you, I was even more impressed when I found out that he is only 25 years old! You heard me – at 25 years old, Al owns not one, not two, but THREE restaurants! What were you doing when YOU were 25?

Al took over the Giovanni’s location in Argyle about 8 months ago and has tried to keep the integrity of the restaurant in tact while also adding some of his own personal flair to the menu. For example, Al serves up HUGE portions of everything, and he does not hold back on pizza toppings. Which is something his customers have both noticed and appreciated.

When we stopped in at lunch, Al had quite the impressive lunch crowd – which may have something to do with the great lunch special he has which includes a small pizza and house salad for just $5!

The menu is fairly simple, but absolutely delicious! And it contains lots of Italian favorites like calzones, pastas, salads and pizzas.

Obviously, due to National Lasagna Day, we had to sample some of Giovanni’s lasagna, which could have probably fed a total of four people! But boy was it ever good. In addition to the lasagna, we also tried their chicken alfredo with penne, and their Supreme pizza which came served with an abundance of fresh toppings.

And to top the entire meal off, Al brought us an order of the Cina-twists which are just… to die for. Pure buttery, cinnamon-sugary goodness with a drizzle of sweet frosting on top. Makes you want to just lick the plate doesn’t it?

Or if you’re interested in some pizza, Giovanni’s also offers a great nighttime pizza special – 2 large 2-topping pizzas for $17.99 or 2 XL 2-topping pizzas for $19.99. And they deliver all the way into Lantana and Bartonville!

Happy carb-loading, Foodies! May this be your best National Lasagna Day yet!
