Foodie Friday: Going next door

When looking for something to do this weekend, you may out of habit turn to alternatives that require you to drive all the way to downtown Dallas or Fort Worth. But what if we told you that you could visit one of our neighboring cities for a weekend out that would be just as entertaining as heading to one of the major downtown areas?

Our team here at Jay Marks Real Estate has a special love for the city of Grapevine and the spirit its Main Street center evokes from an earlier era. We recently took a walking tour of downtown Grapevine so that we could give you an idea of all the great places to shop, eat and explore down there!

Grapevine Restaurants

There is so much great food in Historic Downtown Grapevine – I don’t even know where to start!

One of my absolute favorite restaurants in our area is Dino’s Steak & Claw House located on Main Street in Grapevine. It’s a great place for business lunches or to celebrate a special occasion – definitely on the list of Jay Marks’ Favorites!

And there are tons of options that offer that unique Grapevine charm that makes visiting Downtown Grapevine so much fun! Some of our other favorites include: Big Fish Seafood Grill & Bar, Esparza’s, Kountry Donuts, Hip Pop, Main Street Bistro & Bakery and Napoli’s Italian Cafe.

Or you can visit one of many winery tasting rooms located along Main Street – great for a ladies’ night out or a romantic evening with your significant other.

Grapevine Shopping

Historic Downtown Grapevine features nearly 80 locally-owned shops, boutiques, jewelry stores and art galleries where you can browse through unique locally-made treasures.

There are some great resale and antique shops to peruse through including The Designer’s Rack andAntique Revival. Or visit one of their darling boutiques like Hole in the Wall Home & Gifts and Ooh La La!

Or if you’re not sure what exactly it is you want, the Market on Main is always a fun place to start – they’ve got just about everything!

Things to Do

You may be surprised at how much there is to do in Historic Downtown Grapevine considering it’s mainly comprised of just Main Street. But Grapevine hosts all kinds of festivals and special events throughout the year, and there are always events happening up and down Main Street.

One of our favorite spots on Main Street to frequent is the Palace Theatre which is well-known for its Friday Night and Classic Films showings where they play movies like Hitchcock, the Wizard of Oz, Star Wars and Indiana Jones.

Another great place to visit is the Grapevine Train Depot where you can catch a ride to the Fort Worth Stockyards. Or if you don’t think your kids can handle that long of a train ride, they also have a one-hour Fun Train excursion on either Friday or Saturday mornings (depending on the month). Right now the Fun Train leaves at 10 am on Fridays – and during the months of June and July it’s the T-Rex Express!

Grapevine also hosts a fabulous outdoor Farmers Market on Thursdays-Saturdays through October 15 where you can find all sorts of local produce, locally-made foods, and crafts. Or you can visit the permanentindoor Farmers Market on the south end of Main Street any day of the week!
