The last week of the regular season proved to be a great climax to an exciting season for area football teams.
The Guyer Wildcats (7-3, 5-2 district) were not able to unseat undefeated Denton Ryan from the top spot in the district standings, falling 31-28 at C.H. Collins Athletic Complex. Ryan held Guyer scoreless in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Guyer will face Hebron next Friday, Nov. 13, at 7:30 p.m. at Apogee Stadium in the bi-district playoff round.
The Argyle Eagles took their 7th straight district title and 28th consecutive district win by dominating Sanger, 66-27. QB Dane Ledford was 19/20 passing for 269 yards and 2 TDs. He also rushed for 2 TDs while senior Gage McCook had 4 TDs– 2 receiving and 2 rushing. The Eagles are expected to face Lake Worth next Thursday night in North Richland Hills, but their opponent has not been officially confirmed.
Liberty Christian took care of business, putting away John Paul II in Argyle, 50-8.
Flower Mound fell to Plano West, 28-7 at Clark Stadium in Plano.
