Drought busting rains expected

rain 10-24-15There is a good chance for a widespread rain event in southern Denton County late this week.

All of the ingredients will be in place for multiple rounds of much-needed rain and some storms starting late Thursday and continuing through Saturday.

High amounts of low level Gulf moisture and upper level Pacific moisture will stream into the region creating the potential for heavy rainfall.

At this time forecasters expect rainfall totals to average 2 to 3 inches for much of North Texas.

There will be a slight chances of showers and a few isolated storms across the western counties Wednesday. Rain chances will increase across the west on Thursday, then spread east across the rest of the region Thursday night into Friday.

Abundant Gulf and Pacific moisture will lead to several rounds of showers and occasional thunderstorms, with rain chances continuing into the weekend.

Temperatures will be above normal during this time, with lows in the 60s and highs in the 70s and 80s.
