You may remember when we visited Big Daddy’s Ship Store on Lake Grapevine earlier this summer after they reopened their doors after all the flooding. And this week we’re happy to tell you about another Lake Grapevine restaurant that has recently reopened their doors after closing due to flooding!
Rockin’ S Bar & Grill at Twin Coves Marina had just experienced their Grand Opening here in Flower Mound back in May when the waters of Lake Grapevine continued to rise and eventually caused them to close their doors for the entirety of the summer. With the the lake levels beginning to normal out, Rockin’ S was able to open their doors again just a couple weeks ago and are quickly working to get back on track!
I was so excited to hear that they were able to get themselves back in business because I’ve been looking forward to trying their food all summer long! And we were not disappointed by the food and the wonderful atmosphere we experienced.
Now, keep in mind that because Rockin’ S is just getting back into the groove of things, they have some limited hours currently – they’re open Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 4 p.m.-10p.m.; Saturdays from 11 a.m.-12 a.m.; and Sundays from 11 a.m.-10 p.m.
But they’re working hard to make sure that when they are open, it’s a great experience for their customers – providing live music on the weekends, a wonderful outdoor patio/Tiki Lounge area and two bars where you can grab a seat and order some drinks and food while watching the game.
And it’s no secret that the location is absolutely stunning with views of Twin Coves Marina and the lake. If you go at just the right time, you might catch the sun setting on the water like I did.
Enough about the scenery, right? Are you ready to hear about the food?
The only thing we knew for sure before heading in was that we had to try the Rockin’ Loaded Chips made with their house made chips topped with slow smoked brisket, cheese, onions and some Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce. And we were not disappointed! The house-made chips absolutely made this dish – they were perfectly crunchy and provided the perfect base for all the other ingredients loaded on top. There were only two of us, but I assure you that we could have easily finished the plate all by ourselves if we had let ourselves.
Then we ordered the Chipotle Chicken Wrap made with roasted peppers, onion, sweet corn, black beans, guacamole and their chipotle ranch dressing and their Flat Iron Steak. The flat iron steak was delicious and who wouldn’t love being able to come grab a drink, listen to live music and chow down on some steak on the weekends? And with most of their entrees you can choose from one of their incredible sides. I’d highly recommend trying out their Onion Rings which have the most incredible, crispy batter.
So, here’s the deal Foodies – we’ve got another great opportunity to help support a local business trying to get back on their feet after being affected by the flooding, so why not head out this weekend to try Rockin’ S out!
And this weekend is actually the perfect time to go as their hosting their Smoke on the Water Cookoff this weekend with live music on Saturday from 8 p.m.-12 a.m. and on Sunday from 1-5 p.m. during the cookoff.
Have a great weekend, Foodies!
