Making waves to fight cancer

The 2nd Annual “Swim Across America” kick-off event to support North Texas cancer patients will be held this Saturday at Kwik Kar Wash at 2801 Flower Mound Road in Flower Mound. (Rain date: Saturday, May 19).

The day-long community event will include live music, free food from Texas Roadhouse, photo booth, a bounce house and other games for kids, and raffle prizes.

Party-goers will also have the chance to send local celebrities and other special guests (including the editor of this newspaper) “swimming” in a dunk tank throughout the day (see schedule below).

All of the funds raised at the event will be donated to Swim Across America and directed to the Baylor Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center in Dallas.

Kwik Kar is giving away a $50 gift card for every $100 donated to Swim Across America that day.
