Police looking for fake attorney

The Flower Mound Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Donald Ray Mason, who has allegedly been impersonating a local attorney.

A warrant for Tampering with a Government Record (Court Documents) has been issued for Mason, a 45-year-old African American male who is described as 5-foot-9-inches tall and weighing 165 lbs.

Police said that Mason has been impersonating attorney Lonnie Woods of The Woods Law Firm in municipal courts throughout the Metroplex, including Flower Mound, where police are aware of two incidents.

Mason has also been advertising on the Internet to obtain clients who need assistance handling traffic citations.  Once he has a client, Mason files fraudulent documents with the court and collects a fee.  The victims are left with charges still pending in those courts and the belief that their citation has been properly handled. In some instances, the victims have had warrants issued for their arrest for failure to appear.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Mason is requested to contact the Flower Mound Police Department Tip Line at 972-874-3307.

Denton County Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to Mason’s arrest. Informants will remain anonymous and can leave a tip at 1-800-388-TIPS (8477) or submit a tip online at www.dentoncountycrimestoppers.com/wanteds.aspx.
