Studio B Performing Arts Center in Highland Village will present performances of Stephen Sondheim’s hit Broadway musical, ‘Into the Woods’ July 22 through 31.
The show abides by a ‘fractured fairytale’ format. The story first focuses on the cursed Baker and his wife, and then later includes Prince Charming, a Wicked Witch, and other classic fairytale characters, all searching for something. As they progress through the woods, they find what they are looking for, but soon discover the consequences of getting what they want.
The show features the talent of local teens and is directed by award-winning director Nick Gould and music director John Green. Choreographer is Jennie Lynn Patten.
“I am excited about presenting the community this show. This is the second summer we have offered a Stephen Sondheim show to the community and with a fairy tale theme it will appeal to all ages. We love to showcase our talented local youth,” said Managing Director DeAnna McDearmont.
The Into the Woods cast is a diverse cast of students ages 13 to 20 from around the local area including students from Highland Village, Flower Mound, Lewisville, Lake Dallas, Corinth and Austin. The show is the culmination of an intensive summer teen workshop where students spent time focusing on advanced auditioning, theater acting, vocal and dance techniques, said McDearmont.
Cast members include Ali Long as the Narrator, Abbey Killin as Cinderella, Matt Hill as Jack, Samantha Paterson as Jack’s Mother, Ryan McDearmont as The Baker, Juliana Adame as The Baker’s Wife, Lauren Cordova as Cinderella’s Stepmother, Jessica Herrin as Snow White, Tori Micaletti as Sleeping Beauty, Miranda Hamilton as Little Red Riding Hood, Nico Adame as Rapunzel’s Prince, Andrea Nelson as the Witch, Sarah Cagle as Cinderella’s Mother, Steven Martin as the Wolf, Shannon Price as Rapunzel, Molly Webber as The Steward and Sid Tanner as Cinderella’s Father.
