Former U.S. House Majority Leader to address county Republicans

Dick Armey, former U. S. House Majority Leader 1995-2003 and Senior Policy Advisor for DLA Piper LLP, will address the monthly meeting of the Denton County Republican Party this Thursday, June 17.

Armey will be speaking on the conservative movement in America and his organization, Freedom Works.

The meeting will be at 7:00 p.m., in the 2nd floor Community Room of Medical Center of Lewisville, located at the southeast corner of I- 35E and Main Street in Lewisville.

Immediately prior to the meeting at 6:00 p.m., there will be a social hour for meeting attendees hosted by The Latino National Republican Coalition of North Texas.  Both the social hour and the meeting are open to all interested Republicans.

Dick Armey was born in a small North Dakota town called Cando (pronounced can do) and that seemed to set the tone of his lifestyle.

Armey was the first of his family of nine children to attend college. He later served as Chairman of the Economics Department at the University of North Texas during the last five years of his tenure as a professor.

Armey served as a member of the House of Representatives from 1985 to 2003. He rose through the Republican Conference leadership from being Conference Chairman to serving as the House Majority Leader from 1995 until his retirement in 2003.
