Another local police department has put their traffic accident reports online.
The Argyle Police Department has entered into an agreement with PoliceReports.us to implement a new online option for obtaining copies of accident reports. Police in Highland Village added the same service last fall.
“This is yet another way we strive to use technology to make it easier on those we serve,” said Argyle Police Chief William Tackett.
“This will reduce the inconvenience for both citizens and insurance companies by allowing them the flexibility of getting the reports online, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.”
Accident reports generated on or after November 1, 2009 can be accessed through the Town of Argyle website at http://argylepdtx.policereports.us/
In order to download copies of reports, citizens will need to have a computer, access to the Internet and a credit card to make the purchase, and be able to provide specific information about the incident.
Chief Tackett said that it usually takes 4 to 7 days after the accident has occurred before it shows up online.
“Online distribution of accident reports via the web will allow the Argyle Police Department to be more efficient and provide an increased level of customer service,” said Chief Tackett.
