Flower Mound Chamber Corner – March 2015

chamber_fmstaffThere is an exciting year ahead for the Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce, as 2015 is underway and promises to be one of its busiest yet! The Chamber board, under the leadership of 2015 Chairman of the Board Ashley McClellan, CEO Medical Center of Lewisville, completed its strategic planning retreat and has great plans for the New Year.

As one of the longstanding and indispensable programs, the Ambassadors Committee serves as the welcoming arm of the Chamber. Ambassadors represent members at ribbon cuttings, which is one of the most important services we provide for new businesses in our community. In addition, our Ambassador program includes mentoring new and current members by walking them through various opportunities for involvement and for growing their business.

The Chamber knows that a quality school district is vital to the growth of a community, and we are fortunate to have one of the best in Lewisville ISD. The Flower Mound Chamber Education Committee is partnering with the school district to provide ways for members to effectively share their area of expertise with students. Fostering this relationship helps not just the students, but the future of the business community, as well.  Our Chamber honors a “School of the Month” and a “Student of the Month” at our monthly Chamber luncheons.  This is a wonderful way to recognize our schools and students for their outstanding achievements.

Quality development enhances quality of life, which is a priority for Flower Mound. We are seeing development that has been in the works for years come to fruition, and it’s exciting! In 2015, the Chamber welcomes speakers to share in-depth plans with the Economic Development Committee – a great area of involvement for members who like to be on the cutting edge of information.

One of the Chamber’s longstanding programs, is our Leads Networking program.  We kicked off the year in our new location, Crossroads Bible Church at 8101 Justin Road, and continue to meet the second and fourth Tuesday mornings at 8:00 a.m. Leads Networking is the perfect place for new members who are looking to meet other members and get plugged in quickly, and has also proven successful for long-time members who have incorporated it into their business marketing plans.

The Chamber is known for its successful special events, and they continue to grow this year, providing members with opportunities to get involved and promote their business – and have a great time doing both!

The Annual Golf Classic is coming up on April 1st and is always a member favorite. Plus, we will continue with our new “Girls Gone Golfing”, nine hole tournament just prior to the Golf Classic!  Our all-day leadership seminar, Leadercast, is May 8th, offering high level motivational expertise in a live broadcast to our attendees. The annual Clay Shoot is scheduled again for November 4th.  And to finish strong in 2015, Fiesta Flower Mound is October 24!

The New Year features new and exciting locations for Chamber After Five Mixers, a great time to get in a little networking. New Member Orientations continue, providing a broad overview of the Chamber and the programs and committees we have in place. It’s the perfect way to get a crash course in all things “Chamber.”

Always one of the easiest ways to get out and meet people takes place at our monthly Chamber luncheons. Our great line up of speakers in 2015 will make you glad you are a part of this community and keep you in the know about all things related to this community and to your business.

Watch for our membership directories, which hit the streets this month. These directories serve as a guide to the community for newcomers and prospective business owners, and provide an easy way to find your fellow chamber members.

Our staff at the Flower Mound Chamber is ready to serve its members and is geared up for a great 2015! We are the Chamber that is on the move!
