Guyer English Teacher Honored

Shanna Stovall, an English Language Arts teacher at Guyer High School, has been named the Outstanding High School English Teacher of the Year by the Texas Council of Teachers of English/Language Arts.

Stovall has been a teacher at Guyer High School since the school opened in 2005 and currently serves as the English Language Arts Department Chair. She taught English for nine years at Brownwood High School before joining Denton ISD.

TCTELA recognized Stovall and her work during its annual convention in Austin last month. Nominees are evaluated on their commitment to excellence in the teaching of English and consistent support of the mission and purpose of TCTELA, with the winner receiving an award and one-year free membership to the council.

Stovall received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English from the Angelo State University in San Angelo.
