You’ve heard of “Coffee with Cops,” but Denton police are putting a spin on it with everyone’s favorite summer treat.

“Coffee with a Cop” is a community engagement program that many local police departments use to let residents spend a little time chatting with officers in an informal setting. The Denton Police Department hosts those events, but next week it will host its first “Cones with Cops” gathering.

The event is scheduled on Aug. 6 at Beth Marie’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream on the Square, 117 West Hickory St., according to a Facebook event created by DPD. The community is invited to come have a free ice cream cone with some Denton police officers from 3-5 p.m., while supplies last.
