Foodie Friday: Congratulating Verf’s on their first anniversary!

We love celebrating important milestones with our Foodie Friday restaurants, and this week we were thrilled to wish a (belated) happy first anniversary to Verf’s Grill & Tavern in Flower Mound! We first visited Verf’s last June soon after they first opened, and were so impressed by their diverse and delicious menu, as well as the familial feeling the staff are able to establish with their customers.

If you missed our original post about Verf’s last year and missed the story behind the restaurant…

Owner, Jim Verfurth, first became well-known in the community as owner of the Village Grill in Highland Village. After 18 years with the Village Grill, Jim decided to close it down to pursue a new adventure – Verf’s.

And are we ever glad he did because Verf’s has proven to be a wonderful addition to our local Foodie scene. Whether you’re looking for a fun spot for lunch, or a place to celebrate a special occasion, Verf’s is the perfect choice.

Over the last year, Verf’s has made a couple of changes to the restaurant, including a couple of small menu changes and (most importantly) their air-conditioned patio which allows you to eat outdoors in the Texas heat without feeling miserable!

On our visit this week, we re-visited some of our original favorite dishes and tried out some new ones. So, we’re excited to share our meal with you!

You can’t come to Verf’s and leave without trying some of “The Bread” – an ingenious creation thought up by Jim’s sister made with artisan bread scored and stuffed with cheese, garlic butter, and green onions. It is pure “buttery melted goodness.” And a little Foodie Friday insider tip that we learned on this trip – ask for a side of their made-to-order alfredo sauce to dip the “bread” in. Sinfully delicious.

We tried a couple of new options for our main courses – the Cubano sandwich made with smoked pulled pork, ham, pineapple, caramelized onions and a hatch chili aioli with melted cheese; and the Kobe Steak Burger served on a fresh baked bun with smoked bacon and Vermont Cheddar. Both options were exquisite and came served with a side of their Kennebec Fries (which I could eat an entire bucket full of).

And for dessert we stuck with another of our original favorites – the Drunken Donut which is a cinnamon-crusted donut filled with a frangelico cream. The tang of the cream and the sweetness and doughiness of the donut make for a perfect pair. Definitely an awesome way to end any meal.

We’re so happy to celebrate Verf’s first anniversary with them, and want to congratulate them on all the success they’ve enjoyed this past year! If you haven’t had the chance to check them out yet – WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? Or if you just needed a gentle reminder to head out and try them again, you’re welcome.

We hope you all have a fantastic Independence Day weekend! Be safe. Have fun. And (as always) eat well!
