Do you feel safe here in southern Denton County? You should, as two local municipalities made a just-released safest Texas cities list.
According to SafeWise, a community-focused security organization, Highland Village and Flower Mound ranked among the top 5 safest Texas cities.
Highland Village captured the number three spot thanks to their impressively low crime rate, as there were just 120 total crimes reported in all of 2013 between both violent and property crime, according to SafeWise.
Flower Mound is ranked fourth on the list. In 2013, Flower Mound’s property crime decreased by 72 reported crimes, with 21 fewer reports of burglary and 55 fewer reports of larceny. SafeWise also mentioned the Flower Mound Police Department’s community programs such as the I.N. the Know.
To compile the list, SafeWise used the most recent FBI crime data from 2013 to analyze and rank the cities, which all have a minimum population of 10,000 people. This is the second consecutive time Flower Mound ranked number four on the report.
