Ride for Kids on Sunday

Motorcycle riders of all makes and models are invited to participate in the annual Dallas-Fort Worth Ride for Kids Sunday to raise funds for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation’s medical research and family support programs.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. at the Texas Motor Speedway, 3545 Lone Star Circle, and will continue until 9:30 a.m. The escorted ride begins at 10 a.m. sharp rain or shine. The non-stop ride will loop back to the Texas Motor Speedway.

A suggested donation of $40 is sought for each motorcycle.

Highland Village resident Jo Moody has been riding in the event for the past four years and works with her husband at the registration table.

Often, people with sidecars will take youngsters who have been diagnosed with brain cancer along for the ride, Moody said.

What made her get involved was the statistics that show 13 children a day are diagnosed with brain tumors. Another reason she participates is the fact that out of every $1 donated, 89 cents goes directly to helping the youngsters.

And, she says, it’s a fun event for those who enjoy riding motorcycles.

“We don’t put our feet down the entire trip,” she said.
