Foodie Friday: Killer sushi in Flower Mound

This week I was really craving some sushi BIG TIME, so I convinced my wife to pop over to Piranha Killer Sushi for a great, quick lunch.

If you’re a fan of sushi (or even if you’re not… yet…), I would definitely recommend you give this place a try. Owned by Lantana resident, Dennis Fontana, Piranha Killer Sushi was named the best sushi in Denton County last year and is nominated again this year.

But even if you don’t love sushi and refuse to be converted, Piranha serves lots of other great non-sushi items as well. My wife is one of those people who does not love sushi (I know – but I assure you, we are happily married), so she ordered the beef medallions which were delicious! Perfectly tender and had great flavor. Who would have thought you could get a great beef entree at a sushi spot?

I, obviously, went with some sushi, so I had Dennis serve us some of their most popular rolls – The Flower Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll and Rainbow Roll.

The Flower Roll actually isn’t even on the menu (I was taught how to order off “the secret menu”), but it is absolutely gorgeous and simply delicious with crab, mango and cucumber in a Saku Tuna roll.

The Spicy Tuna Roll is some Masago topped with their house made chili sauce over fresh tuna wrapped in a rice nori.

And the Rainbow Roll includes crab, cucumber, avocado and various fresh fish including tuna and salmon.

In addition to serving amazing sushi, Piranha also has a great bar and patio area where you can enjoy one of their signature martinis which are a huge hit from what I hear! The patio is packed on the weekends and you can also head out to enjoy some live music on Wednesdays and Thursdays as well as half-priced bottles of wine on Thursdays.

It’s hard to find fresh-tasting sushi in the heart of Texas, but that’s exactly what you get when you come here. With five shipments of food a week, you’re assured to get the freshest ingredients possible, making your dining experience even better.

So, go enjoy a quick lunch next week or head out to enjoy the patio this weekend at Piranha Killer Sushi off FM 2499 across Dixon from the Super Target in Robertson’s Creek.
