FMPD unveils new smartphone app

The Flower Mound Police Department is unveiling a new smartphone app as a powerful new communication tool for the community.

The Flower Mound Police Department is one of the first municipal law enforcement agencies in Texas to create a mobile phone application, which is available at no charge.

“I am so proud the Flower Mound Police Department is able to launch this exciting new resource for our community,” said Flower Mound Police Chief Andy Kancel. “This is another great communication tool for not only our department to convey important information to residents, but for residents to relay valuable information to us. I encourage the community to take advantage of this great new app and its many different features.”

Through the Flower Mound Police Department’s new app, users can report non-emergency issues directly, log personal property with serial numbers and photos, read safety tips and media releases, view frequently asked questions, contact school resource officers within Flower Mound secondary schools, view the sex offender database, volunteer with the police department, commend police employees and quickly access contact information for the department, according to a news release.

Users are also able to directly access the Flower Mound Police Department and Town of Flower Mound social media pages through the app. Staff will continually update the mobile phone app with new information.

To download the new app, search for “Flower Mound Police Department” in any smart device app store.  In case of an emergency the public should still call 9-1-1. For non-emergency public safety needs, the public should call the department’s non-emergency line at 972-539-0525.

The Flower Mound Police department also reminds drivers to not text or input data on mobile devices while driving.
