Doctor honored for service

Dr. Kent Dickson of Orthopedic Associates of Flower Mound and Lewisville was recognized recently for his contributions as a founding member of Community Medical Associates.

Dickson served for more than 10 years as an officer and member of the volunteer board, according to a news release.

Community Medical Associates is an exclusively physician-led non-profit volunteer organization that provides oversight and support for physicians working at non-profit clinics in Lewisville. PediPlace and the Ray Bandy Adult Health Clinic at Christian Community Action are served by the board.

In 2013, PediPlace provided more than 30,000 patient visits while more than 6,000 patients were treated at CCA’s adult health clinic, according to the release.

Dr. Dickson, who specializes in hand, shoulder and elbow reconstruction through arthroscopy, attended the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Boulder, Colo., graduating in 1992. He served his residency at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth in 1997.

Dr. Dickson, who was a competitive swimmer participating in U.S. Olympic swimming trials in 1984 and 1988, is affiliated with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Denton County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association, Texas Orthopaedic Association and the American Society of Surgery of the Hand.
