One of the Flower Mound high schools will compete in the state tournament this year after both Marcus and Flower Mound posted semifinal series wins on Saturday, setting up a regional finals matchup between the crosstown rivals.
After stumbling in game two against Midland on Saturday afternoon, Marcus rebounded with a vengeance on Saturday night with an 11-0 victory to punch their ticket to the regional finals.
Ethan Nichols pitched a four hit shutout against Midland and Tyler Boertje doubled in the game for the Marauders.
In the early game, Marcus came up short by a score of 5-4. Jared Bogosian doubled in the game for the Marauders.
In a similar fashion, the Flower Mound Jaguars rebounded from a game two loss to Southlake Carroll on Friday night with an 8-7 victory over the Dragons on Saturday in the regional semifinals.
Sean Wymer picked up the victory for the Jaguars.
Jameson Hannah and Connor Wanhanen both doubled in the game for Flower Mound.
The Jaguars (30-12-1) and Marcus (32-8) will meet in the regional finals starting on May 31 at a location and time to be determined.
Argyle 2, Texarkana Pleasant Grove 1
The Eagles won the deciding game of their regional semifinal matchup with Texarkana Pleasant Grove, winning 2-1 to advance to the regional finals.
Drew Gooch pitched a complete game for the Eagles and Cutter McDonald scored the winning run in the game.
Argyle will square off with North Lamar in the Class 3A Region II finals on May 31 at a location to be determined.
