Flower Mound Town Council Message – May 2014

In case you missed the news, Flower Mound has some exciting new economic development projects on the way.

Perhaps the biggest headline is Whitlock’s (a global audiovisual solutions provider) plans to relocate its regional headquarters to Flower Mound. Although you may not be familiar with Whitlock, you may have seen some of their projects such as the innovative audiovisual display at Victory Park, outside the American Airlines Center in Dallas. They also work with many other clients including numerous global corporations, major universities, and government organizations. With the move, Whitlock plans to bring 120 jobs, with a $55,000 average annual salary, to their new location in the Lakeside Business District, where they signed a 10-year lease. With the new space under construction, Whitlock is planning its move for November.

Also in April, the Town announced several new restaurants coming to Flower Mound. In fact, several of these upcoming eateries will be the companies’ first location in Texas. The latest two to follow this trend are Penn Station East Coast Subs and Luna Grill: Fresh Mediterranean. Penn Station East Coast Subs (www.penn-station.com) will be located in the Robertson’s Creek development, at the southwest corner of FM 2499 and Dixon Road, and expects to open in June. They are known for great sub sandwiches, hand-cut fries, and hand-squeezed lemonade. San Diego-based Luna Grill: Fresh Mediterranean (www.lunagrill.com) is expected to open this summer in the River Walk Market development, at the northeast corner of FM 2499 and FM 1171. Some of their menu items include: spicy cilantro hummus, a gyros plate entrée, a vegetarian platter, and mini baklava.

During the April 21 Town Council meeting, it was announced a Gloria’s Latin Cuisine restaurant (www.gloriasrestaurants.com) will be opening in the Highland Plaza development (southeast corner of FM 407 and Chinn Chapel Road). Additionally, the River Walk developer Centurion American announced Sfuzzi (a New York City pizzeria-style eatery – www.sfuzziuptown.com), Primo’s Tex Mex Grille (www.primosdallas.com), and a Parquet Sports Bar have committed to opening in the River Walk. As we receive more information about additional restaurants and retailers coming to Flower Mound, we will continue to post them on the Town’s website, www.flower-mound.com, and social media sites.

Speaking of social media, the Flower Mound Police Department began a new initiative in April to post the directed traffic enforcement locations on the Department’s social media pages. By posting the locations, drivers have the opportunity to be informed, slow down, and practice safe driving habits. Last year, Flower Mound Police responded to 594 motor vehicle crashes, including one fatality accident and 154 injury accidents. We all want to reduce the number of car crashes in Flower Mound and this is another way to promote public safety. Residents who utilize social media are encouraged to follow the Flower Mound Police Department on Facebook (www.facebook.com/FlowerMoundPoliceDepartment) and on Twitter (twitter.com/FlowerMoundPD).

If you’re looking for family-friendly events this month, look no further than the annual Flower Mound Concert Series!
