Care For Kitties
Animal Allies of Texas needs volunteers for two hours each week to help care for cats up for adoption at the Petco Store in Highland Village. Many of the felines are within hours of being euthanized and volunteers work to place them in loving homes. 214-505-4926

Harvest Some Fall Fun
Crossroads Bible Church on FM 407 in Double Oak is holding its first annual Pumpkin Patch benefiting Our Daily Bread, a community soup kitchen, on Oct. 12 from 9am-6pm and Oct. 13 from 1-6pm. Pumpkins and fall decorations will be sold in addition to hayrides, a pumpkin carving contest, “punkin chunkin”, rock climbing wall, live music, family photography, and face painting. 972-355-3343

Free Dementia Workshop
Dementia Basics, a six week workshop beginning Oct. 24 to help those recently diagnosed with dementia, those concerned about their memory, and primary caregivers is being offered at Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church. Each week will focus on a different topic including understanding dementia, types of dementia, stages, communication techniques, community resources and long-term planning.
