Deployment teams from the Flower Mound, Lewisville and Little Elm fire departments gathered together Thursday before heading to West, TX in the aftermath of the fertilizer plant explosion.
Local firefighters will provide fire and emergency medical services to West for up to a week.
The FMFD sent a team comprised of a battalion chief, two captains, a fire apparatus operator, and two firefighters who took one of the town’s reserve fire engines and a command vehicle.
The deployment is an official state activation covered by the Governor’s Division of Emergency Management, activated by the Texas Forest Service through the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System program.
