Flower Mound Town Council and Lewisville ISD board candidates sounded off on numerous issues at a forum Saturday at Flower Mound Town Hall moderated by The Cross Timbers Gazette reporter John LaVine.
Candidates had the opportunity to talk about their backgrounds and experience and answer questions submitted by residents.
Five out of six Lewisville ISD candidates participated in the forum, with the exception of Place 4 hopeful Jared Brueckner, who did not offer an explanation regarding his absence.
Some of the school board questions concerned the rezoning process, private school vouchers, charter schools, technology in the classroom and standardized testing.
Both sets of candidates from Flower Mound’s two contested council seats attended the forum.
Mark Wise, who is running unopposed for a second term in Place 3, yielded his participation to the candidates with opposition.
The town council candidates were asked about the pending Municipal Management District for The River Walk, the “schools” component of SMARTGrowth, single-member council districts and the importance of voting in local elections.
The forum was videotaped by the town and is being rebroadcast on FMTV, the town’s government access cable channel, daily at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. through Election Day.
FMTV is available on Time Warner channel 16, Grande Communications channel 12, and channel 42 on Verizon’s FiOS TV.
The forum can also be accessed on demand anytime here.
Early voting begins on April 29 for the May 11 municipal and school board elections.
