Eagles advance after shutout

The Argyle Eagles football team failed to disappoint in their opening round playoff game against Bridgeport at at Marauder Stadium in Flower Mound on Saturday night, taking a 31-0 lead into the half and winning 45-0 to advance to the area round of post-season.

Ian Sadler scored on two runs in the first quarter of one and nine yards respectively to give the Eagles a 14-0 lead.

Brandon Boyzuick scored just under two minutes into the second quarter on a 16-yard run, and then connected with Sadler on a 40-yard touchdown pass to make it 28-0 in the second quarter.

A 24-yard Cole Hedlund field goal just before the half put Argyle up 31-0.

Chance Bode and Terry Moore both scored on 1-yard runs in the third quarter to make it 45-0 in favor of Argyle, and that was how the game ended.

Sadler finished the game with 119 yards receiving and two touchdowns.

Argyle will take on Melissa in the area round of the playoffs next Friday at 2 p.m. at C.H. Collins Stadium in Denton.
