Over $28,000 was raised Monday by 1300 participants who ran in the iPad for West Zone 5K Fun Run/Walk in Flower Mound. The goal of the race— to purchase iPads for students.
The fun run/walk was the first event to bring all schools in the Lewisville ISD West Zone together. The West Zone includes schools from the Flower Mound High School and the Marcus High School feeder patterns.
The cool fall weather had people of all ages, and some four-legged family members, out to attend the race.
Some participants, including third-place runner Anna Stock, wore Halloween costumes. Anna was Alice from “Alice in Wonderland.”
The race took place along the Forestwood trails between Forestwood Middle School and Donald Elementary in Flower Mound. Along the course, runners were cheered on by students, cheerleaders, drill team members, cross-country runners, school principals and some members of the Marcus band could be heard playing music.
iPad for West Zone Fun Run Winners included the following:
Top Male Runners:
First Place – Carter Reed, Briarhill Middle School
Second Place – Connor Green, FMHS
Third Place – David Hexter
Top Female Runners:
