FM 407 to be reduced to one lane overnight

As part of the FM 407 road widening project in Highland Village, traffic will be reduced to one lane at night near the intersection of FM 2499.

The lane closure will take place from 8:30 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. each night from now until Saturday, Aug. 18, and again on Monday, Aug. 20, from 8:30 p.m. to Tuesday, Aug. 21, at 5:30 a.m.

TxDOT contractors are paving the westbound lanes of FM 407 and will divert two-way traffic to one lane. Motorists are urged to avoid the area during the overnight hours.

FM 407 will be expanded from two to four lanes from Briarhill Boulevard to Chinn Chapel in Highland Village. The projected timeline for completion of the expansion is October 2013.

According to city officials, TxDOT contractors are working day and evening hours to expedite the construction with the intent of completing the project ahead of schedule.
