Girl scouts brighten community birthdays

In honor of the 100th Birthday of Girl Scouts, over 60 girls and leaders from Service Unit 408 participated in a “Birthday Box” Service Project.

The project began with creating a bright and colorful birthday card. The girls then lined up “assembly line” style and filled shoe box-sized plastic boxes with the cards, cake mix and frosting, candles, balloons, and a special gift. Two kinds of boxes were made – one type for children and one type for the elderly.

The boxes were then donated to the Salvation Army of Lewisville where they will be given to families in need in their assistance programs.

When the minivan full of boxes pulled up to the donations door, the staff and volunteers were thrilled and expressed their thanks for such a special gift.
