Harpool Middle School’s 7th-grade girls track team is striding toward the district championships on March 29, paving the way with overwhelming victories in the first two meets.
The 7th graders easily outpointed the competition at a Feb. 29 meet at Guyer High School, and then dominated the field at the city meet at Denton High School on March 12.
At that meet, the girls racked up 174 points – 60 more than the runner-up, Crownover Middle School.
In the two meets, Lantana resident Morgan Wessling won the long jump competition both times, and her relay teams have twice run to victory in the 4 x 200 and once in the 4 x 100.
The 7th-grade boys team took first overall in the Feb. 29 meet, and followed up with a third-place finish at the city meet.
The 8th-grade girls captured third and second, respectively, in the two contests.
And the 8th-grade boys also finished third at Guyer and second at the city meet.
The district championship meet will be held March 29 at the Little Elm Athletic Complex.
