Team Lakeside makes waves to fight cancer

Last weekend, several swimmers from Lakeside Aquatic Club, along with a few pilots from Southwest Airlines, participated in the inaugural Swim Across America open water swim held on Lake Ray Hubbard.

The young swimmers raised more than $10,000 to support the Innovative Clinical Trials Center at the Baylor Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center.

In all, the event raised more than $350,000 and had several hundred swimmers participate including many former Olympic swimmers.

In the one-mile swim, Team Lakeside swimmers finished ahead of the pack.  David Arrendondo finished 2nd, Chase Sellers finished 3rd, and Aidan Glynn finished 5th. 

For the girls, Alex Sellers finished 1st, Abbie Porter finished 3rd, Sammie Jo Porter finished 8th, Carly Leonard finished 11th, Kate Tunic finished 12th, Meghan Tunic finished 19th, and Hannah Dickson finished 20th.
