FM pastor headed to mission field

Kevin Evans, founder and senior pastor of Valley Creek Church in Flower Mound, will be resigning his position at the end of 2010 to transition into full-time, multicultural ministry.

With the support of the church elders, staff and church family, Pastor Evans, along with his wife, Lisa, and their youngest daughter, Rylie, anticipate relocating to China next summer, church officials announced Friday.

In 1992, Pastor Evans picked up his family and moved from Lubbock, TX to start a church in Flower Mound. For the past 18 years, the small, home-based church plant grew from a handful of members to see almost 2,000 people pass through its Long Prairie Road campus each weekend.

Over the past few years, Pastor Evans’ interest and passion in cross-cultural ministry has grown significantly. He has had the privilege of sharing Christ with others in 22 nations, according to church officials.

The Valley Creek Church elders now face the significant task of filling the soon-to-be-vacant senior pastor position, a process that is in its beginning stages.
