Teen bands to rock stage in Highland Village

Talented young North Texas musicians are scheduled to perform in the Tuesdays in June concert series this Tuesday, June 15, at The Shops at Highland Village.

The center added Osage and Standard Series to promote young DFW talent during the Tuesdays in June concert series.

Standard Series will perform from 7 to 8 p.m. and Osage from 8 to 9 p.m. in the outdoor courtyard near Blue Goose Cantina and Barnes & Noble.

Osage band members, who will be seniors at Argyle High School this fall, are best friends. Towards the end of the band members’ eighth grade year, they changed the “Within Three” band name to “Osage,” to honor the street where one of the band members, Jon Michael Riley, lives.

The band first performed in 2007 at a private birthday party in Denton and then 2008 at Fat Daddy’s in Lewisville. The band has performed at the 2010 Argyle Chili Cook-off, the UNISEF fundraiser in Argyle, The Door in Fort Worth and the Battle of the Bands competition. They recorded their first album last summer at Reeltime Audio Studio and released their first DVD this year.

Jon Michael Riley, who lives in Denton, thanks his parents and three older sisters for their support of his music. He studies guitar with Eric Keyes and voice with Larry Clark, both in Denton. He plays lead guitar and is lead vocal.

Jake King Roberts was born in Houston and moved to the Argyle/Denton area in 2000. In addition to band, he runs track and cross country, where he’s won three state championships. He appreciates the support of his parents and little sister.

Jace Dourgarian was born in Denton and lives in Argyle, TX. He has great support of his music from his parents and older brother and sister. He began playing the drums when he was 13.

Standard Series band members are Gil Altom, Ray Hudson and Matt Tubbs. Gil plays Lead Guitar and Vocals, Matt plays Bass and Vocals and Ray is the Drummer.

Standard Series will perform a variety of original music and some favorites inspired by alternative rock groups such as Blink 182. Gil and Ray just graduated from Kaufman High School and will attend Texas State in the fall. Gil will major in political science and Ray in music. Youngest band member Matt will be a senior at Crandall High School.
