Town Cleanup Day is this Saturday

Argyle residents are invited to pitch their junk and pitch in to help cleanup their town this Saturday.

Instead of a Pride Day festival as in year’s past, Keep Argyle Beautiful is focusing this year on cleanup projects at their Annual Town Wide Cleanup from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the new Argyle Town Hall, located at 308 Denton St.

Residents can drop off everything from household hazardous waste to old tires to electronics to tree limbs, free of charge. Proof of residency is required.

Household hazardous waste will be accepted from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  Space is limited to the first 60 households.

Items allowed include: Acids, hobby chemicals, drain cleaners, fluorescent bulbs, fuel, household chemicals, paints/stains, pest strips, pharmaceuticals, pool chemicals, solvents, varnishes, degreasers, fertilizers, motor oil, paint thinners, herbicides, pesticides, photo chemicals, transmission fluid, and batteries.

Explosives, propane and appliances with Freon will not be accepted.

Free electronic recycling will be provided by Superior Computer Recycling. Acceptable items include: Batteries, cables, wire and extension cords, calculators, cell phones, LCD and plasma devices, mainframe racks and cabinets, monitors, personal computers, servers and mainframes, portable devices – CD/ DVD players, tape players, mp3 players, PDA’s, telephones, VCR’s, video game systems, copiers, printers, fax machines, and scanners.

There is a charge of $10 for each conventional CRT television recycled.

Whitmire Line Clearance, Inc. will provide tree mulching from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Brush, branches and trees under 6 inches in diameter will be accepted.  Free mulch will be available.

Tire Recycling will be provided by Briscoe Tire in Denton.

Senior citizens can call 940-464-3449 for assistance with large items.

Volunteers are needed to clean up sites around town. Interested individuals and groups should contact Adrienne at 940-387-4590.  Lunch will be provided for volunteers.
