Gas driller makes pledge to public

In an effort to help address questions about natural gas development in Flower Mound, Williams Production has unveiled a new website and made a public pledge.

The new website can be found at Company officials called it “a start” and said that new information will be added on an ongoing basis.

The site, however, already contains a public pledge the company is making to Flower Mound residents. The pledge has five aspects with regard to:
* Explaining its development plans
* Limiting its new drilling locations
* Respecting residential setbacks
* Pro-actively monitoring air quality
* Increasing its public outreach

That’s the pledge in a thumbnail. There’s more accompanying information on the company’s website related to all five aspects.

Williams’ official Kelly Swan said, “We understand our responsibility to the community. This is one way of doing more outreach in Flower Mound.

“Our goal is to find common ground wherever we can, especially as it relates to understanding the scope of our operations and where we’ll be and where we won’t.”

Swan said the new website also will be used to convey information about its local developments in Argyle and Lewisville, as well.

Williams has been operating in the Barnett Shale since 2005 and has been in business since 1908, when two brothers founded the company as a construction firm.

Today, Williams produces enough natural gas nationwide to meet the daily energy needs of more than 5 million homes, according to Swan.
