Police report daytime home burglary

Double Oak police issued a Crime Alert Monday after a residential burglary was reported.

Police said that an unknown suspect or suspects broke into a home in the 6000 block of Hawk Rd. between 7:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Monday and stole a pink Dell Inspirion Laptop Computer, a 42″ Toshiba LCD Television, a Sony Blu-Ray player, an exercise cycle and jewelry.

The suspects forced entry into the home through a window and exited through the front door, police said.

Monday’s burglary was very similar to a rash of daytime break-ins that occurred last fall in the town.

Police urge residents to report suspicious behavior immediately by calling 911 with a description of the suspect and their vehicle, along with a cell phone photo of the suspect vehicle’s license plate, if possible.

Anyone with information about this incident or other burglaries that have occurred in Double Oak is asked to contact Lt. Ruben Rivas at 972-355-5995.  For those who would prefer to remain anonymous, Denton County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the burglary.  Crime Stoppers can be reached at 1-800-388-TIPS (8477) or online at
