Flower Mound Place 4 councilmember Jean Levenick announced Friday that she is not seeking re-election for a second term.
“I have enjoyed many aspects of serving the citizens of Flower Mound and have been rewarded many times over. In addition, I have appreciated the support over the years,” said Levenick in a statement she provided to The Cross Timbers Gazette.
“However, one aspect of my role as a public servant that I simply cannot accept is when it negatively affects my family. As an elected official, I understand that personal attacks are inevitable. However, when accusations are directed towards my children, I believe that crosses the line into being unacceptable. So in the interest of maintaining my commitment to faith and family, I will pass on my leadership role and remain an actively involved resident.”
Levenick, along with Mayor Jody Smith, was recently involved in an investigation related to a misconduct complaint at town hall. After an investigation, both women were cleared of any wrongdoing.
Levenick has been a resident of Flower Mound for 14 years. She previously served on the town’s Planning and Zoning Commission.
