Ladies League Supports Soldiers

The Lantana Ladies League is helping to fill the needs of active military personnel by collecting donations for care packages through the Soldiers’ Angels organization during the month of January.

Soldiers’ Angels is a non-profit organization that works to address military-related needs ranging from deployed support to wounded care, to remembrance of the fallen and other assistance for military families.

Items requested by the troops includes:

– Letters and cards of Encouragement
– Personal hygiene items (deodorant, shampoo, etc.)
– Dry snacks (no chocolate)
– Powder drink mix
– CDs and DVDs
– Magazines
– Bug Repellent
– Clothing (socks, T-shirts solid grey, or black, etc.) – No used clothing.
– Blank cards (for troops to send to their friends and family)
– Lip Balm (Chapstick)

All food items must be in the manufacturer’s original packaging.

The woman’s club will also welcome home military personnel returning from active duty at DFW Airport on Saturday, January 23. Sports teams, girls and boys scouts, and youth groups are encouraged to participate in the event. Organizers said that 150 to 250 troops are expected to pass through.

Registration is required to participate in the welcome home group.
