Fundraiser to Benefit Abused Children

Sports celebrities, local chefs and area leaders will come together to raise money for abused children during the first annual “Champions for Children” gala on Saturday, Feb. 20, at Circle R Ranch in Flower Mound, benefiting the Children’s Advocacy Center of Denton County.

The evening event will begin at 7:00 p.m. with a “tasting stroll”.  Guests will indulge in signature dishes specially prepared by Morris Salerno, owner of The Grotto Steakhouse in Highland Village, Sharon Van Meter of Milestone Culinary Arts Center, Greg Tierney of Tierney’s Café and Tavern, Tom Welther of the Anatole Hotel and other culinary experts from the World Master Chef Society and area restaurants.

Sports celebrities such as Tony Casillas, Jose Guzman, Dat Nguyen, Walt Garrison, and others will be at each tasting station for autographs and photos.  A live and silent auction will feature Southwest Airlines tickets, a trip to the California wine country and stay at Fisherman’s Wharf, 1940’s bi-plane ride, three-hour Lake Grapevine cruise for 200, sport suite packages, memorabilia and more.

Guests will also dance the night away to one of DFW’s hottest party bands, Good Question.

The Children’s Advocacy Center of Denton County is a non-profit organization located in Lewisville that provides services for severely abused children by coordinating a team approach to the investigation, prosecution, and treatment of child abuse cases.

To purchase event tickets for $100, become an event sponsor, or donate an auction item, visit www.cacdc.org or call Stacie Wainscott at (972) 317-2818 x244.
