FMPD collects 700 pounds of unused prescription drugs

The Flower Mound Police Department collected nearly 700 pounds of unused medication on National Take Back Day on Saturday.

The department said on social media Monday that Saturday’s medication disposal event was a “huge success.” Flower Mound police collected 31 boxes of expired, unwanted or unused medications for safe disposal. It collectively weighed more than 698 pounds.

On the last National Take Back Day, FMPD collected about 970 pounds of unused medications.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is a nationwide effort by the DEA to provide a safe, convenient and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications. It is held twice a year.
