Parents rave about LearningRx

Shailee Martinez

Ask parents of children who have been through programs offered by LearningRx and most likely you will hear excitement in their voices about the one-on-one brain training their student received.

“They really helped my daughter out a lot,” said Myeisha Martinez, whose 11-year-old daughter Shailee is a sixth grader at Lewisville’s Hedrick Middle School. She attended the LearningRx in Flower Mound from November 2015 until last July.

“She did the reading and comprehension program and went from being an average or just above average student to being on the A honor roll the first nine weeks. She’s reading a lot more, her speech has improved. Not only did they help with that, they boosted her confidence so much it made the biggest difference in everything.”

Martinez, a massage therapist by trade, learned of the Flower Mound LearningRx since it’s located two doors down from a massage therapy school on FM 407. She had looked into other places for her daughter to attend but soon realized LearningRx offered more of what they needed.

“LearningRx helped with her critical thinking skills and everything so we’re really pleased with what they’ve done for us,” she said.

Also quite pleased is Flower Mound’s Kathy McIntosh, whose daughter Clarissa completed two of LearningRx’s programs after she continued to struggle under more traditional tutoring methods.

“We cried when we left,” said McIntosh, a kindergarten teacher in the Lewisville Independent School District. “They were just part of our family. We just loved it and it was such a huge help. It was amazing.”

Clarissa, now in sixth grade, started while in fourth grade early in 2015 and finished last fall. Her pediatrician actually recommended LearningRx to them.

“I’m a school teacher so I have a lot of extra knowledge about what this program was offering and so when I found it, it just clicked,” McIntosh said. “I just knew this was what we had been looking for and it was right here in Flower Mound.

“After I met with (Flower Mound Director) Maria Jones the first time and she was talking to me about what they do – she had formerly been a teacher as well so we could talk the talk together – everything was just fireworks going off in my brain.

“This is was so exciting. It was exactly what I’ve been looking for. If I had the money, I’d be buying a LearningRx franchise myself. I believe wholeheartedly in what they were doing.”
