Wayward goats got the goat of a resident who spotted them wandering near Cross Timbers Church on Hwy 377. The county animal control officer was called to assist with the roundup. Someone damaged a mailbox in the 700 block of Old Justin Road. A suspicious vehicle was reported in the 400 block of Frenchtown Road. Upon investigation, an officer found a truck parked at the end of a driveway with its flashers on so that the wrecker en route could find the residence easier. Police lent a hand to the Argyle Fire Department on a small electrical fire at a home in the 300 block of Old Justin Road. A military family travelling from Indiana to Ft. Hood was transported by an officer to a hotel in Northlake after their U-Haul truck broke down during a snowstorm. Someone reported a stolen trailer in the 400 block of Ben Boyd. Police determined that no theft occurred when the trailer was discovered parked in the driveway of the residence. A resident on Walnut Street reported an odiferous houseguest. The town’s animal control officer was contacted to remove a skunk from the premises. Police assisted the Denton County Sheriff’s Department on a domestic disturbance in the 800 block of Indian Trail that resulted in an arrest. A solicitor selling magazines in the 100 block of Courtney Bay was asked by police to either leave the area or obtain a permit. An officer followed a trail of wet cement to the 1100 block of Thornridge Court, where a cement truck had lost part of its load. A student’s iPod was reported stolen at Argyle High School. Police investigated a disturbance during a basketball game at Hilltop Elementary School. A person wearing a black and red jacket was spotted by a motorist riding their bicycle northbound on I-35W. Police could not locate the foolhardy pedal pusher. Police assisted the Denton County Sheriff’s Department on a report of a prowler in the 6600 block of Oak Ridge. The suspect was not located. A suspicious person was reported in the 600 block of Country Club. It turned out to be a limo driving waiting for his customer. An officer saw a car sitting on the train tracks during a snowstorm and discovered an elderly woman driver with a history of dementia from Rowlett. The officer was able to get the train to stop five minutes before its arrival in Argyle and coax the woman from her car.
