Board nixes rezoning for middle schools PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 09 March 2010 23:33

After several meetings packed with concerned parents, the Lewisville ISD Board of Trustees did not approve the proposed rezoning for Briarhill Middle School in Highland Village.

The rezoning would have transferred a portion of students from Briarhill to Downing Middle School in Flower Mound to bring Briarhill closer to the district's targeted middle school enrollment of 750.

Board members directed LISD staff to re-examine population estimates for upcoming years, in case rezoning should be reconsidered at a future time. Also, Board members stated they would allow parents of Briarhill students to transfer their children to Downing, without busing services.
