Tommy C. Kim of Highland Village recently announced he will seek re-election on May 8 to retain his Place 3 seat on the Lewisville Independent School District’s Board of Trustees.

Kim is completing his fourth three-year term on the school board.
 
Kim, 41, attended kindergarten through high school in LISD and was recently inducted into the Lewisville High School Hall of Fame.

“I couldn’t be more proud of LISD and the accomplishments our district has obtained,” said Kim.

“Having lived in the district for more than 35 years, I have seen firsthand the impact of the quality education LISD provides.”
 
"I'm proud of the district's accomplishments and I'm honored for the opportunity to serve our 12 communities," Kim said. "I hope to continue my service."

Kim said that he will remain focused on the needs of the students. Before making any decision or policy, he said that he looks at all sides of the issue to determine the effect it will have on students. 

“I also want every child to be afforded the opportunity to receive a quality education no matter where they live in the district," Kim said.

While Kim has served on the Board, the district earned the Standard & Poor’s AA+ rating for the third consecutive year. He was also a part of the 2004 LISD Board of Trustees that was named the Texas Outstanding Board of the Year. 

"I will work to strengthen the communication with Lewisville ISD, the community, and parents so that students can reap every advantage toward a sound and superior education," Kim said.

Kim and his wife, June, have two sons, Alex, 17, a student at Marcus High School and Tyler, 12, a student at Heritage Elementary School.
