Thursday, 06 September 2012 00:00

Inspired by KRLD Restaurant Week and the desire to drum up more community involvement for the upcoming Komen Race for the Cure, Cindy Meridith and Lorrie Reed decided to stage their own event to raise money for breast cancer research.

The pair recruited restaurants and businesses along FM 407 in Highland Village and Lewisville to donate and collect donations for the North Texas Race for the Cure at South Lakes Park in Denton on Sept. 29.

Participating businesses are displaying a pink ribbon on their door and have a pink jar inside where people can make a cash donation from now through next Wednesday, Sept. 12.

Here is a list of businesses participating in Pink Out 407 so far:

Community Pharmacy
Johnny G’s
Landmark Grill
Legends Sports Bar And Grill
Lewisville Spa Nails
Mr K’s Cleaners
Rusty Beagle Sports Grill
Scorz Sports Bar & Grill
Survivor Joe
The Moose Bar & Grill
Vitty's Sports Bar
When in Rome

“My goal is to grow the event each year, getting more and more local businesses involved and coloring all of FM 407 pink,” said Meridith.

To participate in the North Texas Race for the Cure, you can register at the North Texas Affiliate storefront located in Golden Triangle Mall in Denton, online or at the race on Sept. 29.
