The Flower Mound Town Council Monday night unanimously approved a site plan for a 90,700 square foot retail center anchored by a Market Street grocery store.

To be built near the northeast corner of FM 2499 and FM 1171, the upscale grocery store will be 55,716 square feet, which is a bit smaller than a typical Market Street that clocks in around 70,000 square feet.

Along with specialty items, a sushi bar, health and gourmet products, pre-prepared foods and a large wine and beer selection, the store will offer wine by the glass, which is a first for the Lubbock-based chain.  The store will not have a fueling station.

"This store represents the future of the company," said Warren Creason with United Commercial Development.

Three separate retail/restaurant buildings of 14,000, 11,000 and 10,000 square feet will join Market Street in the River Walk development. One building will sit next to the grocery store and the other two will be located southeast of the store, fronting FM 1171.  See the site plan here.

Officials from Market Street have been meeting with residents of the Forums subdivision, whose homes border the project to address their concerns, and no one spoke in opposition to the project at the council meeting.

The town's planning and zoning commission approved a plat and site plan for the center with a vote of 5-0 on July 23.

Store officials said that Market Street should be open for business by August 2013.

"It’s been a long time coming and we look forward to Market Street coming to town," said council member Steve Dixon.
